Gefingeerd verhaal over de invoering van het vrouwenkiesrecht in 1869 in Wyoming Territory. In de nieuw opgerichte spoorwegstad Laraville hoopt baas Jim Cork de verkoop van stadskavels te manipuleren om hem controle te geven, maar Quaker-schoolmeester Annie Morgan pakt een van de belangrijkste kavels. Cork's advocaat Steve Lewis probeert Annie te romantiseren om het lot terug te krijgen, maar vindt haar zo overweldigend bevrijd dat ze hem duizelig maakt. Toch bereikt Steve zijn snode doel... bijna... dan heeft hij reden tot diepe spijt dat hij de slapende reus van het feminisme heeft wakker geschud!
