Georges Marceau is vrachtwagenchauffeur. Hij gaat trouwen met de sensuele Olivia. Een ernstig ongeluk dwingt hem tot een kuis leven. Ondanks de omstandigheden en trouw aan haar belofte, trouwt Olivia met hem. Het echtpaar opende een vrachtwagenrestaurant. De zwakte van Georges, de verontrustende schoonheid van Olivia en de nabijheid van andere mannen, waaronder de pompbediende Pietri, zullen een tragedie veroorzaken. Georges is gek geworden van jaloezie en zal Pietri, bij wie Olivia zijn toevlucht had gezocht, pijn doen en zichzelf vervolgens onder een vrachtwagen werpen.
