Richard 'Stitches' Grindle is een clown die men kan inhuren voor kinderfeestjes. Hij maakt echter opmerkingen die voor de kinderen niet grappig zijn. Door een groepje gemene kinderen krijgt Richard op een feestje een vreselijk ongeluk, waarna hij overlijdt. Jaren later zijn de kinderen tieners.
