Während des Zweiten Weltkriegs kommt auf russischer Seite die Katjuscha zum Einsatz. Diesen Raketenwerfer nennen die Deutschen Stalinorgel, wegen der beim Abschuss entstehenden Geräusche. Während eines Rückzugs bleibt eine der Geheimwaffen zurück und die Russen befürchten, sie könne den Deutschen in die Hände fallen. Eine hektisch einberufene Einsatztruppe wird hinter den feindlichen Linien abgesetzt und soll verhindern, dass die Deutschen Beute machen. Doch die haben die Stalinorgel bereits in ihren Besitz gebracht. Jetzt versuchen die Russen alles, um die in deutschem Besitz befindliche Katjuscha zu zerstören. Die russische Einheit zahlt während des Himmelfahrtskommandos einen hohen Preis für ihren Mut.
