Vor vielen Jahren floh der zwei Jahre alte Nathoo nach einem Angriff des mordlüsternen Tigers Shir Khan in den Dschungel. Dort wurde er von einem Wolfsrudel großgezogen und bekam den Namen Mowgli. Zwölf Jahre später treibt Mowgli die Neugier in sein Dorf zurück, und er erlebt dort Abneigung, Hass und Habgier. Tiger Shir Khan wartet im Dschungel auf eine Gelegenheit, erneut anzugreifen - doch während der Jahre im Urwald hat Mowgli auch viele Freunde gewonnen.
